The Indian Runner is a breed of domestic duck originated in Southeast Asia, whom are also descendants of the herding ducks raised in the region for thousands of years.[1] Unique because of their appearance and high egg production, they are quite popular as exhibition and pets.

DescriptonEdit

Of all domestic breeds, the Indian Runner departs furthest from its Mallard ancestors and is depicted as being a "wine bottle with a head and legs" [2]. When relaxed and strolling about, body carriage tends to be 45-75 degrees above horizontal- when frightened or alert, they will stand near-perpendicular.

In contrast to most other breeds, Indian Runners do not really waddle as they have a smooth running gait.
